The World Youth Forum

On January 2nd and 3rd WAYE held the World Youth Forum 2009 - 2010 which was an assembly of 1382 youth leaders from many parts of the world and an array of inspiring speakers who were enthusiastic about throwing light on the various personal passions the youngsters of today have and can make a future out of.

The forum started with the "Dynamics of Creative Genius" talk by Montoo Basi, the creative brain behind the Polo mint with a Hole concept. He briefly explained what goes behind transferring an idea into an advertisement and involved the audience in a way where at the end of the seminar they were coming up with wonderful print and tele ads. He also effectively brought home that a calm meditative mind is the key to achieving heightened creativity. This was followed by the Understanding and appreciating Indian classical dance workshop with Dr. Shila Mehta. The scientific aspects of classical dance form Kathak was explained by her via practical demonstration of the dance sequences to the enthrallment of the youth.

A scintillating talk on a few aspects of astronomy in Ancient India by Dr. Hari and Hema Hari from Bharath Gyan. The audience were awed by the amount of scientific knowledge our ancestors had and have passed on. They apprised everybody on how Astrology, Astronomy and Mathematics always coexisted in ancient India and were never separate streams, thus being the reason for India flourishing in many aspects.

Khurshed Batliwala effortlessly decoded the concept of infinity from mathematics to the audience in a way via which everyone could understand and enjoy the complicated-to-many concept!! Following this he played beautiful pieces on the piano furthering his session to classical music appreciation.

Dr. Bente from Denmark, one of the leading practitioners of Cranio Sacral Therapy in the world, along with some demos and a few easy techniques enlightened the audience on the healing power of the body and how it can be tapped to cure all illness within oneself. The audience learnt how to channelise the flow of energy along the spine. Other easy techniques on healing common ailments were also taught.

The former Chief Justice of India, Justice Venkatachaliah graced the event where he spoke on many important topics relating to politics, judicial system, legislation and most importantly gave direction to the youth on how to approach these areas of interest. He left the youth feeling lucky for living on this planet during this time of amazing technological and human evolution.

Just 21 years old and one of the youngest CEO's in India, Suhas Gopinath totally inspired youngsters to take up entrepreneurship. He spoke about how to not allow failure dampen enthusiasm and how entrepreneurship is the way of future. This talk set the tone for Shantanu Prakash, MD of Educomp Solutions, Leaders in Education and Training. Shantanu Prakash is an investor and entrepreneur who has developed strong social entrepreneurship in the field of education. Apart from mentioning the qualities required for an entrepreneur, giving tips on structure an idea into a business model, highlighting challenges faced and reasons behind failures, he also gave an opportunity for the youngster to share their business ideas and was pleasantly surprised to see that 80% of them had wonderful income bringing ideas. Most of the youth wanted enough income so that they could focus better on community service.

What made this empowerment packed forum more empowering was the fact that the entire audience was highly receptive to the talks and their thirst to know and dynamism brought out the best in every speaker! Every speaker who graced the event expressed their joy on having spoken to such wonderful, pioneering youngsters.
