Manavathe Project
Addressing the critical need of the hour of inculcating human values and helping them make responsible life decisions, the Department of Collegiate Education, Karnataka introduced Manavathe. The second year undergraduate students of Karnataka government colleges took part in the workshop to become socially sensitive and responsible citizens.
Need Analysis
Rapid modernism and consumerism, increased competition and peer pressure have raised the sense of insecurity and anxiety in the young minds.
Manavathe (enriching human values) is a special youth empowerment and value education workshop which was developed by WAYE in consultation with Department of Collegiate Education, Karnataka.
Implementation
The program was conducted in 29 districts of Karnataka across 338 government colleges covering 25,358 students. The workshop was conducted by 307 WAYE trainers in the academic year 2010-2011 in a span of one month.
Program Course Content
It is a blend of practical knowledge tips, group processes and learning oriented games. Manavathe certificate endorsed by the Department of Collegiate Education and WAYE are given to those students who complete 24 hours of the program.
Service Activity
In the workshop, the students were also encouraged to initiate and lead a service activity within or around the college premises. Activities were conducted such that it makes the participants more aware about the self, environment and society there by helping them to be responsible global citizens.

Yoga has created a lot of change in me. I feel lighter than before. I know how to adjust to future circumstances. There is no pressure, I am free from it, I can focus better.
On the second day of the course, I realized how to handle my studies. I learnt to get along with parents and friends. I changed myself so that my actions do not disturb others.
On the third day I learnt how to reach my goal. I cleaned myself from many negative aspects.
On the fourth day, I realized how to execute the things that I learnt. The things what we learnt should be spread to society at large.
To conclude, I am free from much pressure and ready to face life much better.

I enjoyed the Sudarshan Kriya. I learnt how to face difficult problems in my life. I now know how to be a responsible person in the society. I did not think on the first day that the Manavathe program will be so amazing. We are all happy and enjoyed a lot. It was something different.
