Why?

Globally every year, 5th of December, is dedicated to celebrate the spirit of Volunteering. During The International Volunteer Day, 2010, WAYE partnered with the UNV (United Nations Volunteers) to support activities related to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

For the IVD 20101, an online essay and slogan writing contest was organised around the theme of the MDGs. Along with the 20 schools and 50 colleges from Delhi, students from all over India participated in the online essay competition. 'The Role of youth in achieving the Millennium Development Goals', was chosen as the topic for the youth to ponder and express upon.

What?

WAYE has constantly contributed to the MDGs, and this time too, it took care of increasing the reach of the event. WAYE volunteers supported the event by publicising about the event in colleges such as JMC, AIIMS, Gargi College, Maitri, Kamla Nehru, Amity and IIT. It also availed its social networking channels for the event's publicity. WAYE representative Ms. Shavina Prakash, was chosen to be on the panel of judges for the selection process.
