I am Honest Campaign
World Alliance for Youth Empowerment launched the 'I am Honest' campaign to provide a platform for youth to come together against the unethical in society and encourage the 'Be Good, Do Good' policy.
The Concept
The society moves ahead because of the good acts of people. Unfortunately, in an aim to sensationalise news the media at large focuses only on the negative. By acknowledging those who uphold truth and honesty, others will also be inspired to do the same.
The campaign aims at achieving the following:
- acknowledge and reward the honest in the society
- create awareness on why corruption exists
- inspire youth to be ethical
Ethical Entrepreneurship
WAYE spurred the campaign's beginning by hosting a conversation on business ethics with Mr. V.S.S. Mani, CEO of Just Dial - India's leading local search engine.
When and Where
May 28, 2011 at Fr. Agnel College of Engineering, Bandra, Mumbai
What?
To prove that entrepreneurship needn't necessarily be corrupt or unethical to succeed, we held this forum, and the event was attended by 125 enthusiastic youth. Mr. Mani's journey which began with just a dream and Rs. 50000 is today a business empire with an annual turnover of Rs 200 crore.
Mr. Mani urged the youngsters to follow their dream and believe in themselves. He shared his belief that business and ethics go hand in hand. "In the span of my journey I have always come across honest people. 90% of Indians are honest, and the rest also want to be honest, it's just that they are bound by situations and impatience. I have never compromised on ethics, the right way will take some time but sooner or later success will walk towards you. Moreover, being honest simply eradicates any fear; we are always given a choice... Lastly meditation and going the right way always helps." An interesting question answer session followed Mani's talk, in which he answered questions about striking the correct balance between spirituality and materialism.
